Our Purpose

“And let us consider how we
may spur one another toward love and good deeds.”
Hebrews 10:24

Having been led, as we believe [through the Word of God by the Spirit of God] to receive the gift of eternal life and forgiveness of sins from Jesus Christ our Savior, and upon the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, and angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully exhort one another, as one body in Christ:

To therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, walk together in Christian love;

To strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, godliness, and comfort;

To promote its prosperity and spirituality;

To sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrine;

To give it a sacred preeminence over all other institutions of human origin;

To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor within our congregation, and the spread of the gospel throughout all nations;

To encourage one another to engage in family and private devotion to the Savior;

To biblically educate our children;

To seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances;

To walk uprightly, according to the Word of God;

To be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment;

To avoid all gossip, backbiting, and excessive anger;

To abstain from sinful habits and to guard our public testimonies;

To be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior;

To actively care for one another in brotherly love;

To remember one another in prayer;

To aid one another in sickness and distress;

To cultivate Christian sympathy in action and courtesy in speech;

To be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the instructions of our Savior, to secure it without delay;

And finally, we also exhort that, if we remove from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with another Bible-believing church where we can carry out the spirit of this exhortation through the principles of God’s Word.
